TRUST PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

RCBC Trust and Investments Division offers a comprehensive suite of trust products and services that cater to corporate, institutional, high net worth and retail investors. We are known for our extensive experience and excellent track record in managing and handling retirement funds, savings plans, and even various complex agencies such as escrow, custodianship, mortgage trust indentures, bond and credit agencies. For the discriminating high net worth individuals and top institutional accounts, we have individually managed trusts and portfolio management services. Finally, we have Unit Investment Trust Funds (UITF) where a minimum investment of P25,000.00 opens doors to investment opportunities in a global standard marked to market environment. Our conservative and aggressive retail clients can choose from five different UITFs depending on their investment objectives, risk tolerance, investment horizon and liquidity requirements.

We are also known for our consistently superior investment track record as attested to by Watson Wyatt Philippines, Inc. In the latest Wyatt Survey of Investment Performance of Retirement Funds, we emerged as the No. 1 Fund Manager in the Full Discretion Category for posting the highest average return for the last five years in this finer category of the survey. Furthermore, we also perennially exceeded our established benchmark yields by an average of 3 percent for the last five years for both fixed income and mixed investment portfolios.

Traditional Trust and Agency

Living Trust

A living trust is a personal trust account created by an individual, called the trustor or settlor, to become operational during his lifetime as soon as the agreement is accomplished. The trustor conveys a sum of money or property to be managed by the trustee for the benefit of designated beneficiaries, who may be the trustor and third person(s) or third person(s) only. RCBC as trustee is tasked to implement the terms and conditions under which the principal and/or income of the trust is to be disposed of during the lifetime of the trustor or upon the occurrence of specified events. A living trust may either be revocable or irrevocable. It is revocable when the creator/trustor retains the right to revoke, amend or modify the trust and get back the funds. On the other hand, it is irrevocable when the creator, who in this case is called a donor, executes a final transfer of the funds/property to a third party beneficiary or beneficiaries. Although he can still dictate the terms under which the income and principal of the trust may be enjoyed by the beneficiary(ies), the donor fully relinquishes any right over the property. A donor’s tax is paid to the Bureau of Internal Revenue based on the value of the fund/property donated when an irrevocable trust is created.

Portfolio Management

RCBC designs a customized investment portfolio for clients depending on their investment objectives and risk preference. The portfolio can be invested in fixed income instruments, equity securities, or a combination of both. Aside from the professional and sound management of clients' funds, RCBC provides regular market updates, quarterly performance reports on the status of the portfolio and safe custody of securities. This product is open to high net worth individuals, corporations, and institutional clients.

Retirement Fund Management

RCBC can guide companies on how to establish a retirement fund for its employees. This service includes assistance in the drafting of the retirement plan rules and regulations, contracting the services of a licensed actuary, assistance in securing qualification for tax exemption from the Bureau of Internal Revenue and setting up the retirement fund. Once the fund has been set up, RCBC can customize an investment program for the retirement fund created out of contributions from the employer, the employees, or both with the objective of maximizing the fund's return within the client prescribed parameters. RCBC will administer the fund's additional contributions, handle the evaluation and selection of investment outlets, execute the investment transactions, process the retirement benefit payments and provide regular performance reports on the status of the fund.

Employee Savings Plan

In addition to the regular retirement benefits, some employees, on their own or through the encouragement of their employers, pursue the establishment of employee savings plans to encourage thrift and provide supplemental monetary support upon retirement or in their old age. RCBC will assist the employees in setting-up the plan, provide legal assistance and finally manage, invest and administer the monthly contributions of employees by way of pre-arranged salary deduction. Aside from the regular accounting for the fund, RCBC will maintain individual ledgers to track employee contributions

Group Savings Plan

RCBC also assists institutions, associations and non- profit organizations design and implement a savings plan for their members. The bank’s services extend from conceptualization, drafting of plan rules, documentation, fund management, fund administration and accounting, including the maintenance of ledgers for the members’ contributions. Group Savings Plans can be a significant tool in providing additional financial security to members of an organization or association. It also strengthens the bond between the association and its members as well as among the members themselves.

Mortgage Trust Indentures (MTI)

RCBC acts as an intermediary between a borrower and its creditors in the administration of a single property or a pool of properties securing the loans of the borrower. Under this arrangement, the borrower assigns or encumbers his properties to RCBC (as mortgage trustee) as collateral for present and future loans. RCBC in turn issues mortgage participation certificates to the creditors certifying their proportionate share in the security coverage. The company benefits from the maximized use of its properties since an MTI allows the same property or pool of properties to stand as collateral for several loans obtained from different institutions either through a one-time availment or on a staggered basis. An MTI provides the company with the flexibility of transferring loans from creditor to another and reduces the costs incidental to these transfers. This product is a protective financial instrument for both the borrower and its creditors.

Unit Investment Trust Fund (UITF)

A Unit Investment Trust Fund (UITF) is an open-ended pooled trust fund in any acceptable currency which is operated and administered by a trust entity and made available by participation. Investors can participate in the Fund by acquiring units of participation at teh precailing net asset value per unit (NAVPU) for the day. Upon withdrawal, the NAVPU is also the basis for redeeming units of participation in the fund. As required by the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas, each UITF product is governed by a Declaration of Trust (Plan Rules) which contains the guidelines for investing, operating and administering the fund. The Declaration of Trust governing the fund is available at the principal office of the trustee upon request. UITFs are subject to daily markingto- market for valuation purposes. The NAVPU may fluctuate depending on the volatility of various instruments in the fund. UITFs are trust products subject to BSP regulations and are not deposit products, hence, not covered by PDIC. Any income or loss derived by UITFs is for the account and risk of the investors. The yield, return or income of UITFs is not guaranteed and the trustee shall not be liable for any losses except those resulting from its gross negligence.
