Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC), one of the top universal banks in the country continues to strengthen its partnership with the 4th largest financial group in Japan-Resona Group by supporting the arrival of Japanese small and medium enterprises.
"With the joint venture between RCBC and Resona Group, Japanese investments in the country have significantly increased making it beneficial for both banks," shared President and CEO Lorenzo V. Tan during a client appreciation night held at the RCBC Plaza, Makati City.
RCBC Chairperson Helen Y. Dee, together with Corporate Vice Chairman Cesar E.A. Virata, and various bank executives graced the event with guests from Resona Group including Saitama Resona Bank Managing Executive Officer Yasushi Nakao and Kinki Osaka Bank Executive Officer Yasuhiro Fukuzaki.
"It has been a strategic move for Resona Group to have a central presence in Asia, especially with our joint venture with RCBC. Our alliances with foreign banks, including the Philippines, pave the way to boost Japanese industries offshore," said Resona Bank Deputy President Hiroyuki Ikeda.
An economic briefing on Japan and Overseas’ Future Economy and Investments Climate headed by Resona Bank Chief Market Strategist Koichi Kurose was also conducted during the early part of the program.
The Resona Group is a financial company composed of three banks: the Resona Bank, Ltd., Saitama Resona Bank Ltd., and the Kinki Osaka Bank, Ltd.
Since 2012, RCBC has been in partnership with Resona Group in providing access to banking services in the country for its Japanese clients. With the goal of delivering business consultations in Japanese, the RCBC Japan Desk was created and set-up in the RCBC Headquarters in Makati City.
RCBC's strong presence in Laguna, Cavite, Clark, Subic, and Cebu make it the preferred banking institution among Japanese firms, and contribute to the strategic alliance with Resona Bank.
RCBC and Resona had forged an agreement with Philippine Economic Zone Authority to help promote direct investments as well as foster business partnerships between Philippine and Japanese entrepreneurs and companies.
