RCBC Pulz Moves to Single Device Login Policy for Safer Banking
RCBC Strengthens Mobile Banking Security with Single Device Login
For many Filipinos, online banking has become part of everyday life, whether it’s checking balances, transferring funds, or paying bills on the go.
As digital transactions grow, so does the need for stronger safeguards that protect customer accounts from unauthorized access.
As part of its efforts to strengthen account security, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) has introduced a single device login policy for its mobile banking platform, RCBC Pulz, effective January 5, 2026.
This update is part of RCBC’s continued push to strengthen digital security while ensuring customers enjoy a smooth and reliable banking experience.
Why Banks Are Strengthening Mobile Banking Security
As digital banking becomes more mainstream, cyber threats and account takeover attempts have also become more sophisticated.
Many of these risks happen when accounts are accessed from multiple devices without proper control or verification.
Financial institutions worldwide are now shifting toward stricter authentication systems that limit device exposure. RCBC’s single-device login policy aligns with this global standard.
Instead of allowing multiple devices to access a single account freely, RCBC Pulz now ensures that each user account is linked to only one registered primary device at a time. This significantly reduces the risk of:
- Unauthorized logins from unfamiliar devices
- Account sharing vulnerabilities
- Session hijacking or phishing-based access
- Unmonitored device switching
The goal is simple: make digital banking safer without making it harder to use.
What the Single Device Login Policy Means for RCBC Pulz Users
Under the new policy, every RCBC Pulz account will be tied to a single primary device. This means:
- You can only actively use your account on one registered phone at a time
- Logging in on a new device will require switching authorization
- Security verification through OTP is required for device changes
- Biometric authentication is encouraged for faster access
If you switch phones or reinstall the app, you’ll need to re-register your device before continuing normal access. It also ensures that your account stays protected even if your phone is lost, stolen, or compromised.
Key Changes Users Should Expect
Here’s what RCBC Pulz users will notice after the update:
1. One Active Device at a Time
Your RCBC Pulz account can only be actively logged in on your primary device.
2. Mandatory Device Switching Process
When logging in from a new device, the system will prompt you to transfer registration.
3. OTP-Based Verification
All device changes require a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile number.
4. Email Confirmation Alerts
You’ll receive an email once your primary device has been successfully updated.
5. Biometrics Activation Prompt
Users will be encouraged to enable Face ID or fingerprint login for added convenience and security.
How to Register or Switch to a New Device
If you get a new phone or need to reinstall RCBC Pulz, follow these steps:
Step 1: Log in to RCBC Pulz
Open the app on your new device and enter your existing User ID and password.
Step 2: Switch Registered Device
The app will detect a different device and prompt you to switch registration.
Step 3: Authorize the Request
Tap Authorize to proceed with the device transfer.
Step 4: Enter OTP
A One-Time Password will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter it to verify your identity.
Step 5: Confirm Successful Registration
Once verified, your new device becomes the primary device.
Step 6: Re-login for Security
You will be asked to log in again to refresh your session for security purposes.
Step 7: Enable Biometrics
Activate Face ID or fingerprint login for faster and more secure future access.
How to Update Your Primary Device via Settings
If you are still using your old device, you can manually update your primary device without reinstalling the app:
- Log in to your RCBC Pulz account
- Go to the Security tab in the navigation menu
- Select OTP Settings
- Choose the Push Notification option
- View your registered devices list
- Select your new device as the primary device
- Tap Confirm
Once completed, your account will automatically switch to the newly nominated device, and an email confirmation will be sent.
Why This Update Matters for Customers
While some users may initially see this as an added step, the single device login policy is designed with long-term protection in mind. Here’s what it improves:
Stronger Account Protection
Limiting access to a single device reduces the chances of unauthorized login attempts.
Reduced Fraud Risk
Even if login credentials are compromised, access from a second device is blocked without OTP verification.
Better Control for Users
Customers have clearer visibility over which device is actively linked to their account.
More Secure Mobile Banking Experience
Security measures like biometrics and OTP verification make transactions safer without slowing down everyday use.
What Users Should Do Now
To avoid login disruptions, RCBC recommends that users:
- Ensure their mobile number is updated in the system
- Keep their RCBC Pulz app updated to the latest version
- Set their primary device before switching phones
- Enable biometric login for faster access
- Avoid sharing login credentials across devices
These small steps help ensure uninterrupted access once the new policy is fully in effect.
