A Better Way to Send Money Home: RCBC Upgrades Its Remittance Services

Sending money home is one of the most essential ways for millions of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to stay in touch with their families. Every dollar sent helps pay for school fees, food, medical bills, and even small goals that grow over time. That is why RCBC is improving its services to make life easier for Filipinos living around the world. The bank recently upgraded its RCBC Remittance platform and widened its global network so that overseas Filipinos can send money home faster, more securely, and more conveniently.

Adapting to the Way Filipinos Now Bank

Remittances remain a major driver of the Philippine economy. In 2024, the country received a record USD 38.34 billion in remittances. This growing preference for online transfers shows how Filipinos are embracing digital tools in everyday life. RCBC is meeting that shift head-on by enhancing RCBC Remittance, formerly known as RCBC Telemoney, and introducing more digital options that simplify how Filipinos abroad support their families.

“This is part of our commitment to being catalysts for change by driving greater adoption of digital remittances, making it easier for global Filipinos to take advantage of growing accessibility worldwide,” said Martin Tirol, Head of RCBC’s Transaction Banking Group.

For Tirol, the upgrades are about keeping up with what overseas Filipinos need most: speed, security, and peace of mind.

What’s New with RCBC Remittance

The upgraded platform provides customers with a smoother, more reliable experience, whether they are sending funds from Japan, Korea, or anywhere else in the world.

Global Partnerships for Faster Service

RCBC has partnered with leading payment and money transfer providers, including Visa (Global), Digital Wallet Corp. (Japan), Gmoney Trans (Korea), and Taptap Send. These partnerships expand the bank’s reach to 19 countries where many overseas Filipinos live and work. The goal is to reach 25 countries and 80 international partners within the next five years. This expansion means more choices for senders and quicker, more dependable service for families in the Philippines.

A Wider Local Network

At home, RCBC has built one of the largest payout networks in the country, with over 20,000 locations nationwide. This ensures recipients can access funds conveniently through RCBC branches, partner outlets, or accredited remittance centers.

Easier Banking Through RCBC Pulz

The bank has also made account opening more convenient through its mobile app, RCBC Pulz. Filipinos working abroad can now open a Philippine bank account from 42 countries, removing the need for in-branch visits or paper forms. Once an account is set up, users can send money, pay bills, and save—all through their phones. This gives overseas workers more control over their finances and makes it easier to support loved ones back home.

Faster and Safer Transfers

RCBC has also upgraded its remittance system to make transfers quicker and more efficient. Real-time transactions are now possible through API integrations, while flexible fees and automated billing make the process smoother for partners. The bank is currently working on an outward remittance feature that will soon allow Filipinos in the Philippines to send money abroad via the RCBC Pulz app. This will help families with loved ones overseas who need to transfer funds for tuition, travel, or emergencies.

Security That Puts Customers First

With more transactions happening online, protecting customers’ money has never been more important.

“We continue to leverage digital solutions, strategic partnerships, and an expanded network, while ensuring security remains at the core of our services,” Tirol said. “With advanced safety measures, we safeguard customers’ information and funds, and through active promotion of cybersecurity and safe online banking practices, we help them remain protected against theft and fraud.”

RCBC’s systems are designed to detect suspicious activity and block potential threats in real time. But the bank doesn’t stop at technology. RCBC also educates clients on how to protect themselves from phishing and online scams. This proactive approach helps customers stay confident when using digital services, especially those new to online banking.

Proof of Growth and Trust

RCBC’s efforts to improve its remittance operations have shown strong results. As of June this year, the bank recorded a 34% increase in remittance transactions compared to the previous year. This growth led to a 17% rise in transaction fee revenues and a 32% jump in foreign exchange income. The Global Filipino Banking (GFB) division also posted a 6% year-on-year increase in CASA volume, surpassing its target by 9%. These numbers reflect the growing trust that Filipinos abroad and their families at home have placed in RCBC’s digital banking services. More importantly, they show that RCBC’s digital initiatives are helping more Filipinos manage their money securely, wherever they are in the world.

Bank with A Trusted Partner for Global Filipinos

For many overseas Filipinos, time is precious. They work long hours, often in challenging conditions, to provide for their loved ones. So when it comes to sending money home, they want a quick, easy, and worry-free process. RCBC’s upgrades make that possible. By combining digital convenience with the assurance of a trusted local bank, RCBC allows overseas Filipinos to focus more on their goals and less on the process of sending money.

As the fifth-largest privately owned bank in the Philippines, RCBC continues to strengthen its position as a dependable banking partner for individuals, businesses, and overseas workers. The bank’s commitment to innovation and responsible growth ensures that it can serve both present needs and future opportunities. Behind every RCBC service is a clear mission: to help Filipinos live better lives through accessible, reliable, and secure banking. The expansion of its digital remittance system is one more step toward that goal.
